From a press release
The new Inn at the 5th, a gorgeous boutique hotel set in the heart of Oregon’s southern Willamette Valley, officially opens its doors today. The $14 million project unveils a sense of service and style unmatched in the region.
The 40,000-square-foot, five-story destination hotel is located at the busy Fifth Street Public Market in downtown Eugene. Inspired by the Inn at the Market in Seattle’s Pike Place Market, the Inn at the 5th is distinctive for its integration into the fabric of Fifth Street, where gourmet restaurants, winery tasting room, professional salon and spa, shops and public spaces are woven into the amenities of the hotel experience.
“It’s been 28 years since downtown Eugene has had a new hotel, and the city’s culinary scene and cultural offerings have been bursting at the seams for something like this to match its caliber of talent,” said Brian Obie, hotel principal. “The vibrant Fifth Street Public Market is a landmark in itself, but the addition of the Inn fulfills a longtime dream to create something truly different − a new type of travel experience for leisure visitors and professionals on the road.”
With an experienced hotel management team, Obie and the Inn at the 5th general manager Erik S. Cole have created a premier property that sets the bar for attention to detail. Key design elements of the hotel include:
- Sound proofing. The Inn at the 5th is conveniently located just two blocks from Amtrak with service from Seattle, Portland and California. After conducting train sound transmission research and testing, the building team took extensive measures to create a nearly noise-proof building.
- Butler closets. Ever had to answer room service in your towel? Fear no more. The Obie Closet is a small, private door connecting your room to the hall where room service is delivered without disruption.
- No check-in lines. Hotel staff carrying iPads greet and deftly guide guests through the check-in process, customizing requests for preferred in-room mini bar stock, breakfast delivery and spa and restaurant reservations all in one seamless experience.
- Unique themed decor. Each room showcases a different aspect of the character of Eugene and Oregon. From the Oregon Bach Festival to the history of University of Oregon track and field, the art, artifacts and tone of each room invite people to explore the surrounding area.
- Reclaimed history. The Inn at the 5th has beautifully represented its history by incorporating elements of the past throughout the hotel, including mantles made using wood from the original Nike Store. Bedside tables and a signature lobby coffee table were handcrafted from the trunk of the stately maple tree that once grew on the site.
“As the global travel market continues to grow, U.S. and international visitors are looking for meaningful vacation experiences,” said Cole, who has more than 20 years experience working in the hospitality industry throughout the West. “The Inn at the 5th is an important new Oregon asset with compelling amenities. It has the potential to become a Pacific Northwest icon.”
The kitchen of James Beard-nominated Stephanie Pearl Kimmel’s neighboring Marché restaurant provides room service to the hotel, and professional spa services are available from Gervais Lifestyle Salon and Spa, an Aveda Concept Salon located within the hotel, where an elevator opens directly into the spa area. Rooms overlooking the outdoor courtyard will draw guests into the energy of the market, where they will be able to listen to the summer live music series and enjoy wines from neighboring LaVelle Vineyards tasting room by simply lowering baskets from their balconies to place an order.
The hotel is taking reservations now for its 70 stylish rooms starting at $189 per night. Bookings can be made online at http://www.innat5th.com or by phone at (855) 446-6285.
